The EU-US RFID Lighthouse symposium (Washington DC, September 22, 2008)
The European Commission (EC) and the United States Government (USG) are working together under the Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC) Initiative to develop a roadmap for cooperation in the field of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), consisting of the short and long-term initiatives necessary to realize the potential of sharing information and best practices on the actual usages of RFID (more...). We hope to ensure that the deployment of RFID technologies in the business and consumer environments spurs innovation and helps society reap the benefits derived from the use of RFID in global commerce.

Workshop on FIRE, Paris, 10 September 2008:
This FIRE Launch
Event marks the starting point of the 14 research projects which have
been selected under the first call. The Event will involve all the FIRE
stakeholders, from all relevant academic and industrial actors:
researchers and decision makers on Future Internet from European
academy and industry, relevant national initiatives, R&D projects
from FIRE and any other related area in national, EUREKA (Celtic) and
FP6-FP7 portfolios. The workshop is meant to discuss the research
scenario behind FIRE, its expected impact, and the multiple ways to
improve synergies and added value with other research initiatives, be
they worldwide, at EU or national levels. It represents a key milestone
for updating the vision and the roadmap for the European Experimental
Facility and the experimentally-driven visionary research for the
Future Internet.
